News Du Jour
I have never been a highly political person until recently – and I wouldn’t really say that I am “highly” political now. I am, however, more interested in world and national affairs than I was when I was a working mother, raising my children, making a living and – oh, yes – working my hardest to get seven uninterrupted hours of sleep at night. But now I have time to indulge in reading the news daily and following politics.
It looks like Republicans are in for some much needed good news with
the recent congressional seat gained in Florida by Republican David Jolly. Not
that it was a landslide win. We still need to work very hard, if we want to put
a dent in the tyranny that is taking over nationally. Tyranny – yes. Governing,
no. The Republican party has been trapped in a sinkhole since 2008, but it
looks as though things are going to begin reversing.
No one wants Obamacare. The Sebillus gang has cooked the books so many
times that even they have no
clue how many people have actually signed up and PAID THEIR FIRST OBAMACARE
PREMIUMS. No one is connected to reality on that side of the political aisle.
From current figures, it has also become apparent that the only people signing
up for Obamacare are NOT the uninsured for the most part. Instead, people who
already had insurance are the only ones who are signing up for Obamacare. Only now, most have higher premiums,
astronomically higher deductibles and health coverage that is less
comprehensive. The government has also performed some very slick sleight of
hand in dumping inmates’ health coverage into the Medicaid pool – making it
more difficult for existing Medicaid members to get the ongoing medical treatment
that they need. Fewer doctors and medical facilities are honoring Medicaid.
The country has become weary of listening to the Obama administration’s
excuses on the NSA, Benghazi, the IRS scandal, how much Snowden knows, Bagdad-Bob-Jay-Carney’s
news conferences emanating from an alternate reality and liberals whining about
Fox News. Regarding the latter, my guess is that most liberals have never watched
Fox News.
So, on March 12, 2014, this is how the world goes round. Oh, a couple
more news items of special interest:
1.
A family was held captive by their 22-pound
house cat; and
2.
Lena Dunham might quit acting.
Regarding the family held captive by the cat: The cat is okay, and the
owners have been remanded to therapy. And Lena? Whatever publicity she decides to seek, whether it be in acting or endorsing the right of women to
run around naked, let’s just hope that Lena keeps her clothes on.
Over and out until next time.

Why I'm Not Watching the State of the Union Address
First, there will be a huge plug for ObamaCare that will be centered in our liberal government's alternate reality of denial and vacuous affirmation. If I want that, I will listen to Louise Hay or Tony Robbins. At least some of those affirmations are true and centered in the real world. Obama will talk about cheap birth control, access to abortions and not going bankrupt because of a serious illness. For your average secular citizen, this may seem promotable. But for Christians, some cannot promote birth control and most cannot sanction abortion. This is driving companies out of business (can you say, "Hob-by Lob-by," please) and, if the Supreme Court rules against their challenge, the Little Sisters of Charity may have to offer abortion services and birth control medications to their celibate members.
Next, Obama will tout immigration reform. For the Dems, immigration reform consists of unabated amnesty overloading our government's medical, welfare and housing-assistance programs to name a few. This will bankrupt us. While I am definitely an advocate of legal immigration and extending a compassionate open hand to non-citizens who are willing to work through their way through our current immigration process, I also believe that unrestrained immigration is a liberal manipulation device that will ruin our conservative social and religious freedoms. We do not want to become a one-party society.
The third thrust of Obama's speech will be about other ear ticklers, like clean-coal and wind-farm technology -- even though Obama has all but obliterated the coal industry in the United States. He will talk about how we are going to be completely out of the Middle East by the end of his term in office -- and maybe even by the end of the year. Obama won't talk about how his politically-driven Middle East policy is leaving our interests here and abroad at the hands of malevolent groups who have hijacked Islam and wish us to become their brand of Islam or perish. Obama has not the courage to stand up to terrorism nor to the terrorists who are slaughtering peaceful, law-abiding Christians in the Middle East and those who want to obliterate our ally, Israel. In fact, in Syria, our government has been giving Islamic rebels some of the weapons they are using for the mass-murder of Middle Eastern Christians.
After all this, Obama may launch into a soliloquy on divisive government (he's referring to conservatives who refuse to rubber stamp his policies) and drive home his latest expose on how he plans to leave Congress in the dust, hop on over the Constitution in-total and sign lots of executive orders for bringing forth the "fundamental change" he wants to be remembered for.
As for me, when the State of the Union Address airs tomorrow, I'm going to tune in to The Shahs of Sunset and then to Fox News. That way I can be entertained, informed and go to bed happy.

White House Blog-Wash
Valerie Jarrett
First I was annoyed that I was on the mailing list of the White House Blog. Second, I was displeased that today’s blog entry was from Valerie Jarrett. Third, I decided to read what Ms. Jarrett had to say, and – as I suspected – it was framed for the average Fifth Grader, discussing the Obama team’s conversations with “the American public about what they hope to hear in the President's address next Tuesday.”
There were photos of Valerie Jarrett sitting at her desk, Valerie Jarrett meeting with her team, Valerie Jarrett moderating a panel and – a much younger –
Valerie Jarrett posing with the Obamas.

The Golden Door
Last night on the news, I heard New York Governor Cuomo telling conservatives, pro-lifers and other non-liberal groups that they are not welcome in New York State anymore. Then, at the commercial break, an advertisement aired enticing out-of-state business owners to move their operations to New York's tax-free zones designated precisely for this purpose. Evidently, New York is willing to accept our money -- just not us.
Oxymoronic.
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free;
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless,
Tempest-tossed to me
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" *
Even though there are numerical quotas on who can emigrate to America at any given time, our country still honors and welcomes legal immigration for those aliens willing to play by our rules. But when did state governors assume that it was acceptable to tell groups of American citizens that they are not welcome within a state's borders? What do they want us to do? Live on Conservative Reservations? And if so, where? Maybe a state or two will lift lamps beside their golden doors and welcome us in.
It is a dark, dark day when American citizens are not welcome within one of their own United States.
Sadly, that day is now upon us.
*"The New Colossus" is a sonnet by American poet Emma Lazarus (1849–87), written in 1883. In 1903, the poem was engraved on a bronze plaque and mounted inside the lower level of the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.

Liberals Can Change -- I Did
I used to be a card-carrying liberal. In fact, as a young
woman, I even worked on the McGovern Campaign. But, for the life of me, I can
honesty tell you that I do not know why. I guess that I hadn’t really taken a
long, hard look at politics that were opposed to liberal thinking.
When I married and had children, though, I began viewing the
world through the lenses of motherhood and the mind-set of a mother tiger
protecting her young.
The thought of pedophiles then automatically activated my antennae
-- as did bullies, incompetent teachers,
abusive athletic coaches and child safety laws. On the day that a new
elementary school opened in our neighborhood, I narrowly missed running over a
child who had darted into traffic. Now I can be found in that town’s local cable
T.V. annals chastising our city council on their failure to hire crossing
guards and install traffic lights and stop signs. Do you know that, as a result
of my city-council shriek, they found a way to get those stop signs, traffic
lights and crossing guards and they there still up-and-functioning some 25
years later?
People must take a stand.
Now I am a conservative in all things. I hate big
government; ObamaCare; Obama; and the
rest of our lying, cheating liberal elected officials. Our country is slipping
away from us. I am seriously concerned that one day we will wake up to find
that we are living in the United States of Obama.
We must do what we can to bring our country back to rational
conservative laws and government.
Comrades unite! Wendy Davis Embellishes her Timeline and Life Story
Wendy's life got easier when she married her second husband, attorney Jeff Davis, and her life became more financially viable than the one in the story she painted of helping to support her family from the age of 14. I am sure that Wendy's second husband helped out significantly.
In fact, it is reported that Wendy's husband Jeff Davis won parental custody of his daughters with Wendy when they divorced in 2005, and Wendy was ordered to pay child support on both.
My beef with Wendy Davis is her support of late-term abortion. I cannot support a candidate who purports the legality and twisted morality of painfully killing fully-formed babies in utero and then delivering their dead bodies.
Never.
My hope is that Abortion Barbie will change her pro-late-term-abortion stance and become a pro-life candidate instead. This, I think, would be a better choice.

Inaccurate Figures No Surprise
A recent congressional hearing revealed that the Obama Administration is unsure of who has actually paid to enroll in Obamacare because the functionality for collecting this type of information has not been built yet. Comparing this to purchasing something on Amazon, this means that citizens may have placed their new Obamacare plan in the cart but have not actually paid for it yet.
According to the Administration, 2 million people enrolled through healthcare exchanges from October 30th - December 28th of this year. However, they are not considered covered until they pay their first premium.
So the figures that we have been given by our government on how many people have enrolled in Obamacare to date are completely inaccurate. All of the enrollment data provided to insurers has been inaccurate and incomplete, also.
Do you get the feeling that maybe it is so bad that they are just not telling us? This is very suspect. It is inconceivable to me that the Administration considers the ObamaCare disaster nothing more than a "glitch." A disaster is not a "glitch." No system for collecting data? That is a disaster.
I hear that there is a bailout in the works for the insurance companies. It has been suggested that the House introduce a provision to Obamacare axing the bailout provision of the bill.
It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
Thoughts anyone?

More Rosy Rhetoric
The government is still looking at your phone messages, calls, emails
text messages and other personal information.
This is kind of like: "If you like your privacy, you can keep it."
Just "Rosy Rhetoric," says Rand Paul about President Obama's speech today on government surveillance:

Why Can't We Prosecute?
The administration has lied to us about keeping our own doctors and health plan. They have lied to us on the success of Obamacare enrollment and engaged in deceptive number crunching to convince us that people are actually signing up for it. The administration via the IRS targeted conservative and Jewish groups prior to the 2012 election. They supposedly investigated the allegations and – yet – have decided that there was no criminal action to prosecute. So now conservatives are pressing for an investigation of the investigators.
Then comes the cluster-scandal of Benghazi. The President
sent out Susan Rice to dupe us into believing that the violence at the embassy
on September 11, 2012 was a “spontaneous” demonstration resulting from a
“despicable” film denigrating Islam. President Obama’s staff still has not
informed us of what he was doing on the night of the Benghazi attack. Hillary
Clinton “disappears” and isn’t even interviewed in the original Benghazi
investigation. When she is finally interviewed, she blasts us with her famous “What
difference does it make,” diatribe. State Department workers were supposedly
disciplined when – in reality – they were just shifted into different job
positions at the State Department. It took the Administration over a year to name Ansar al Shawari
a terrorist group. It took over a year to learn “officially” that several al
Qaeda linked groups were involved in the Benghazi attack.
It goes on and on and on – the never-ending list of bullying,
obfuscating, lying, shifting blame and ducking -- with zero consequences
attached. What about Solyndra and Lisa Jackson and Fast-and-Furious and voter intimidation by
the New Black Panthers? What about Biden’s bullying of the press and the IRS and
Obama’s abuse of executive power and the $2 million payment to David Axelrod for
work performed in his alternate universe? Why were government employees in Benghazi demoted and harassed for telling the truth about what happened? What is going to happen with Iraq and
Afghanistan? Did our brave soldiers die in vain? Why can't we hear from the Benghazi survivors?
Why can’t we prosecute this administration?

Benghazi Attack Determined Preventable
A comprehensive bipartisan report released by the Senate has declared that individuals associated with Al Qaeda groups were involved in the attack on Benghazi on September 11, 2012. This is contrary to recent claims that Al Qaeda was not a factor in the attack.
The Obama Administration went on record initially claiming that the attack had sprung out of a protest to a film denigrating Islam. While the report does not implicate the Al Qaeda core that is conducting its operations out of Pakistan, it does blame some of the most influential Al Qaeda branches, including Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).
The report says the following:
“Individuals affiliated with terrorist groups, including AQIM, Ansar al-Sharia, AQAP, and the Mohammad Jamal Network, participated in the September 11, 2012, attacks."
The militant Ansar al-Sharia was, separately, labeled by the State Department as a terror group last week, in part, over its alleged involvement in the Benghazi strike.
The most striking aspect of the report is its claim that the attack on Benghazi was preventable, that the administration failed to heed "ample warnings" of a pending attack and that U.S. personnel in eastern Libya were at risk. Included in the report was an August 16, 2012, cable from Ambassador Chris Stevens raising concerns about security.
Opinion:
Why did it take a year to name Ansar al-Sharia as a terror group? Why was adequate security not provided to our diplomats? Why were the warnings unheeded? Why were we in Benghazi in the first place?
Our President and his most senior advisors were notified of the attack almost in real time. Why was the order for reinforcements cancelled? Why are the Benghazi survivors being kept from coming forward and telling the truth? Why was the "film" rhetoric promoted? Why did Obama persist in his "Al Qaeda is on the run. . ." rhetoric during his campaign for re-election?
Doesn't anyone want to know?

Weakness Perceived
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani Tweeted that the U.S. plus other world powers have "surrendered" to Tehran in their new nuclear deal.
He is quoted as saying:
"Our relationship w/ the world is based on Iranian nation's interests. In #Geneva agreement world powers surrendered to Iranian nation's will."
Is Iran's president just blustering, or is perception of the U.S. and allied nations on a downward spiral internationally?
