We Must Get Serious

Yesterday at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Texas Governor Rick Perry spoke on the threat posed by ISIS:

“At no time has the future been more uncertain and world more dangerous than today.  This administration’s incompetence in Iraq and Syria has allowed the emergence of ISIS. Let’s be very, very clear about what ISIS is. They are a religious movement that seeks to take the world back to the 7th century.”

“To deny the fundamentally religious threat is naïve, it is dangerous, and it is misguided. ISIS represents the worst threat to freedom since communism.”

Whether or not Governor Perry decides to run for President in 2016, he believes, as do the rest of the conservative candidates, that ISIS is an existential threat to the western world, and our government must put its full force into eradicating it.

ISIS Threat Growing

ISIS militants have taken between 70 and 100 Assyrian Christians captive in the northeast section of Syria. Reportedly, 3,000 people were able to flee the ISIS onslaught and take refuge in the cities of Hassakeh and Qarnishli. The majority of the captives are from the village of Tal Shamiram which is located roughly 50 miles southwest of Qamishli. No one knows the condition of the captives.

With ISIS gaining hold in coastal Libya, in addition to ground that they are seizing near the Turkish border, Europe and the surrounding region are becoming increasingly more at risk.

The strategic ISIS threat is definitely mounting.

Our Greatest Threats are Not Right-Wing Extremists or Climate Change

ISIS is expanding in the Middle East.  Their immediate goal of conquering Libya is to utilize it as a gateway for an imminent invasion of southern Europe. Boko Haram’s acts of terrorism are expanding exponentially in Africa. Sunni countries are warning that if negotiations with Iran allow them to keep their nuclear-producing technologies, there will be an arms race between the Shiite and Sunni nations.

North Korea’s volatile leader paid a visit to a location near the border of South Korea to observe North Korean military drills – a week ahead of joint exercises between the U.S. and South Korea. Kim Jong-un regards the military exercises between the U,S. and South Korea as preparation for an “invasion” of the north.

Russia has violated their cease fire with Ukraine, and Nato’s deputy supreme allied commander in Europe is concerned that Vladmir Putin may try to invade and seize Nato territory. Britain’s top general in Nato has also said that this poses “an existential threat to our whole being.”

I do not think that right-wing “extremists” or global warming are today’s greatest threats to mankind. Would someone kindly inform our fearless leader?

Where Are the Headlines? Where is the Breaking News?

Forty-six souls were reportedly burned alive in the Iraqi town of Al-Baghdadi less than five miles away from 400 Marines stationed at Al-Asad Air Force Base. I would think that this should grant prominent and immediate exposure in the news media. After all, Fox News reported on it as a breaking news flash. Granted, it is still developing , but there is no reporting on it elsewhere. In fact, there is next to nothing in the news media on the Middle East.

This morning, the lead story at USA Today was Holder ordering a probe of individual bankers’ roles in the financial crisis, and NBC’s was about a burglar who served four years of a 60-year sentence being back behind bars. The headline under the lead at NBC was about why beads are thrown at Mardi Gras. CBS posted legal loopholes for getting through DUI checkpoints as their lead story, and MSNBC posted a lead story about the slow crawl toward justice for the broken-hearted families of victims in police shootings. ABC posted a rolling lead story of the Aaron Hernandez trial, how military action may not be the answer in Libya and, last, a third lead story on the prudish mindset affecting old Hollywood’s silver screen.

I give credit to CNN, though, because at least they posted a lead story comparing ISIS to the Nazis and Khmer Rouge. At least they are talking about it.

Just under the breaking news on the burning alive of 45 human beings in Iraq, Fox News’ lead story discussed State Department spokeswoman, Marie Harf’s take on ISIS where she says this on MSNBC’s Hardball:

“We're killing a lot of them, and we're going to keep killing more of them. ... But we cannot win this war by killing them. We need ... to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it's lack of opportunity for jobs, whether --"  At that point, Harf is interrupted by host Chris Matthews, who astutely points out, "There's always going to be poor people. There's always going to be poor Muslims." Harf continues to argue that the U.S. should work with other countries to "help improve their governance" and "help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people."

“These people?” “We’re killing a lot of THEM?” “There’s always going to be poor Muslims?” Could they be any more condescending? And leave it to an Obama hack to bring job creation and politics into the grand equation of life for those poor souls living in the direct path of ISIS. You cannot create an infrastructure for dead people.

If the American Public is not reading about the atrocities of ISIS and other Islamic terrorists in their daily news, how are they going to know what is happening?

Egypt Strikes Back at ISIS

Egyptian warplanes bombed ISIS militants yesterday in retaliation for the recent mass beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians. As many as 64 militants were killed, and the bombing took out ISIS ammunition caches and training camps. The airstrikes came in two waves and were carried out in Derma, a port city in eastern Libya.

The Egyptian military issued the following statement:

"Avenging Egyptian blood and punishing criminals and murderers is our right and duty."

The statement was broadcast on state television.

El-Sissi, the President of Egypt, called on the Arab world to reject radical terror. He even took the unprecedented step of attending services at a Christian church.

"These cowardly actions will not undermine our determination," said el-Sissi, who also banned all travel to Libya by Egyptian citizens. "Egypt and the whole world are in a fierce battle with extremist groups carrying extremist ideology and sharing the same goals."

Egyptian officials have also indicated that there would be further air strikes.

No Time for Obama-Speak

Three hundred and twenty United States Marines at Al Asad Air Base  in Iraq are being slowly surrounded by ISIS militants– in some places less than five miles away in an area with no cover of mountains, rivers, etc. On Saturday, Isis militants disguised in Iraqi Army uniforms attacked that same base. Those ISIS fighters – some wearing suicide vests – were killed. Some say that it was a probing mission to determine the vulnerabilities of our base. As is very obvious, this is a classic circle-the-enemy maneuver.

The President, just days ago, told us that ISIS was suffering from a morale problem. Is this true? One would think that being so close to causing an American disaster would lift the morale of ISIS considerably. Is our President’s denial going to cause injury to those 300 troops gradually being surrounded by ISIS?

As Judge Janine Pirro said yesterday, “This is no time for “Obama Speak.” Our President need to take the ISIS threat seriously and send reinforcements.

Denial and Obfuscation

We are in a war against Islamic terror. Yet, our Commander-in-Chief will not even say the words, “Islamic Terror.” We are told by our leader that the U.S. is doing strategic bombing of ISIS. Yet the sum total of this bombing amounts to less than a pinprick. Jordan is begging the U.S. for help in bombing ISIS, and we are not told that the UAE pulled out of ISIS bombing campaign in December. Worse yet, the UAE is referenced a month later as being actively involved in the bombing – which was not true. Yesterday the President had a gathering at the White House for Muslim leaders – all of which the White House staff refused to name. The President can meet with Muslim leaders, but he has already refused to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu when he addresses Congress next month. Iran’s leader has been quoted as saying that the U.S. is “begging” for an agreement on nuclear weapons.

Does anyone see a pattern here?

More Threats from ISIS

In a new video that has emerged from ISIS, President Obama is directly threatened as follows:

“Know, oh Obama, that will reach America,” says one of the fighters, clad in black and wearing a balaclava, in a translation from Arabic provided by MEMRI. “Know also that we will cut off your head in the White House, and transform America into a Muslim Province.”

The video also pledges to kill Japanese and Jordanian hostages if a hostage is not freed by Jordan. And they didn’t stop with all of these threats.

ISIS also makes the following threats against Europe:

“And this is my message to France and to its sister, Belgium,” he said. “We advise you that we will come to you with car bombs and explosive charges, and will cut off your heads.”

There was an online message issued today warning that a Jordanian pilot and a Japanese hostage had less than “24 hours to live.” They demanded that a woman held by Jordan, Sajida al-Rishawi, be freed in exchange for the Jordanian and Japanese hostages. Ms. Al-Rishawi previously admitted a role in the Amman hotels attack that killed 57 people and who is referred to by the Islamic State as a “sister of the Caliphate.”

ISIS released this message of Japanese hostage, Kenji Goto Jogo:

"I've been told [by ISIS] that this is my last message," the Japanese hostage says, adding that the only obstacle remaining for his release is the Jordanian government and that "time is now running very short!"

No immediate response has been made by the White House.

Shadow of Crisis

In President Obama’s State of the Union Speech, he said, “The shadow of crisis has passed” largely due to his “leading from behind” diplomacy. If that is so, then why is Syria in the middle of a coup? Wasn’t Yemen one of Obama’s great “successes?” Is this the caliber of judgment we want determining whether or not to sanction Iran? President Obama's policies are responsible for creating the power vacuum in Iraq and now in Afghanistan that has spawned the rapid growth of ISIS in those regions.

I think that  the shadow of crisis is still quite prominent.

Obama and the "JV" Team

Congressman Louie Gohmert in The Counter Jihad Report on January 15, 2015 discussed the following Obama blunder:

"Obama: ISIS is the 'JV team'.

In January, President Obama sat down for an interview with the New Yorker, and when asked about ISIS gains in Iraq, he likened them to the JV team, saying ““The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant.” Those words came back to haunt him as ISIS surged in both Syria and Iraq, particularly when Obama authorized missile strikes against ISIS in August. Even then Deputy National Security Adviser Tony Blinken defended the president’s “JV team” remark, saying they didn’t pose the threat to America as much as Al-Qaeda. A few week later, the Washington Post noted the attempts to spin the president’s statement. By September, Obama laughably claimed in an interview on Meet the Press that he wasn’t talking about ISIS in his New Yorker interview. But even the notoriously biased Politifact rated his walk-back as “false” and two weeks ago the Washington Post’s fact checker Glenn Kessler branded Obama’s “JV team” spin as 'the lie of the year'."

On the theme of Obama's lack of understanding of the growth of radical Islam in today's world, the "JV Team" remark is one of his most stunning understatements.

Let's elect a president in 2016 who understands world affairs, instead of a candidate whose greatest strength is the ability to give a good speech.

ISIS Child Soldier Publically Executes Two Prisoners

A  horrific video surfaced online on Tuesday that shows a young boy of around 9 or 10 executing captives claimed by ISIS to be Russian spies. He is supervised by a bearded man who appears to be in his late 20s or early 30s. There is Arabic writing at the bottom of the video. The boy identifies himself as “Abdullah” from Kazakhstan.

The two captured men in the video “confess” to crimes against the ISIS organization. Then the adult ISIS warrior announces that the men are now “through Allah’s grace,” in the custody of the “lion cubs of the Caliphate.” After the speaking ends, the boy steps forward and calmly shoots the two men in the head repeatedly. U.S. and Russian officials have been contacted for comment, but – as yet – none has been provided.

While U.S. Officials have been aware of ISIS using child fighters, this is the first time that one of these child soldiers have publicly executed other people and a video of the murders posted online.

Be warned: ISIS is targeting children in their perverted, aggressive recruitment efforts.
